The second-hand online store GV Armoire arrives this weekend in its very first ephemeral store.
Sam Spinks’ collection of over 1,600 objects is open to the public at MG O’Brien Hall in Mooroopna, but only for one weekend.
“A great thing about my concept is that I’m really trying to create all the benefits of second-hand shopping and having great clothes at affordable prices,” she said.
“But you still have the experience of buying new, like going to any brand new store.
“I know there are a lot of customers who value this in-person experience.”
More than a year ago, Ms Spinks faced a common dilemma: she had all the love for all the clothes but simply didn’t wear them anymore or had no more space.
And so, GV Wardrobe was born.
The online store was inspired by a clothing swap model, each item listed is donated and sells for $10 a piece.
And those who donate the items then receive a $2 credit per piece: five garments sent equals one new item.
Since then, Ms Spinks has been gawking at the support.
She pointed to Regional Rummage and said she was impressed with the development of thrift shopping in the Goulburn Valley.
“I love all parts of being an online store and all the opportunities that come with it, but it’s kind of the next natural thing that we can try,” she said.
“It’s a very different experience to shopping online, so it’s cool to be able to offer both.”
MG O’Brien Hall in Mooroopna will be decked out with all GV Wardobe content and will have dressing rooms. Sizes range from 4 to 26 for women and from XXS to XXXL for men.
Cash and card payments will be available.
The shop will open Saturday August 13 from 12pm to 5pm and Sunday August 14 from 9am to 2pm at MG O’Brien Hall, 41 McLennan St, Mooroopna.
