Update (10/11/21): Following the launch of PlayStation Direct in Germany on Monday, Sony’s online store is now available in the UK:
You can access the UK version of the site through the link. PS Direct will be rolling out to other European countries soon, and we expect the list of territories below to grow over time.
Original story: For many optimistic PS5 buyers, PlayStation Direct has been one of the most trusted ways to purchase one of Sony’s most sought-after consoles. As the name suggests, this is an online store through which the company sells PS5 consoles directly – and many other products. While this is a great option, it’s only available in the US, but it looks like PS Direct is finally coming to European territories.
A tweet from PlayStation UK indicates that the store is starting to roll out in the region:
Thus, from today with Germany, PS Direct will finally arrive in Europe. As the tweet says, the other countries that will soon receive access are the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, although there is currently no attached date. However, it looks like more information will be available soon.
This is good news, because until now European PlayStation fans have had to stay very up to date with the various online stores and when they get the next PS5 stock, something that has proven to be incredibly tricky – especially when the console sells out in minutes. While Store Direct doesn’t guarantee you a PS5, being able to register your interest and join their queue system at least gives you a better chance to beat yourself up.
We’ll keep you posted when the UK version of the site arrives, but it looks like it’s not too far away now. Are you happy to see PS Direct coming to Europe? Tell us in the comments section below.
