Osage Nation Harvest Land Launches Online Store | News

According to staff reports

The Osage Nation Harvest Land (ONHL) is launching an online store expanding shopping opportunities for citizens of the Osage Nation (ON) and neighboring community members. Fresh produce is updated online as supplies are harvested with a portion set aside for distribution to Osage Nation programs. Updates will be posted on the Harvest Land Facebook page.

“We have begun implementing the software to support crop planning and documentation,” said ONHL Horticulturist Cody Vavra. “The best feature is the online store and POS system. This allows us to reach people who are unavailable during our Farmers Market and during regular business hours. It allows a person to buy what they want, process payment, and simply drop by Harvest Land before or after work. Currently, someone is usually on the farm between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. After packing the order, someone just has to hand it to the customer and they can be on their way. Here in the near future and if the demand increases, we will deliver locally to individuals.

This week’s online orders are accepted until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022. Pickups are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If bad weather affects packing days, the ONHL will notify the public.

About ONHL: ONHL is a working farm located at 102 Midland St. in Pawhuska, Okla. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the ON experienced a breakdown of food systems. The CARES Act funded infrastructure to increase food production. ONHL has a 40,000 square foot greenhouse and program building. The program building (44,000 square feet) contains an aquaponics system, food processing area and water laboratory. The farm is important to the development of tribal food sovereignty efforts for the Osage Nation.
